Claressa Shields Retains Her Undisputed Middleweight Crown Against Maricela Cornejo

Claressa Shields (14-0 2KOs) defended her Undisputed Middleweight Crown by defeating Maricela Cornejo (16-7 6KOs). Official scores were 100-89, 100-90 twice.

Shields dominated in her typical fashion by using he fast hands and counterpunching. The right hand was a big weapon for Shields. Cornejo had minimal success in the fight with her right hand, but nothing effective. Shields stamped her claim as the best P4P #1 woman's boxer.


DAZN Undercard Results:


-Ardreal Holmes (14-0 5KOs) defeated Wendy Toussaint (14-2 6KOs) by Split Decision to win the IBF USBA Super Welterweight title. Official scores were 77-74, 76-75 for Holmes, and 77-74 for Toussaint. The first couple of rounds started off slowly. Toussaint picked up the pace in the third round by applying pressure with his combinations. Holmes fought very relaxed and was inactive with his punches. Toussaint was deducted one point for hitting behind the head in the fourth round. An accidental head clash in the eight round that cause a cut on Toussaint's forehead. The doctor checked the cut and allowed the fight to continue. However, after a brief exciting back and forth action, Referee Gerard White stopped the fight and deemed Toussaint unfit to continue.


-Joseph Hicks Jr. Improves to (7-0 5KOs) with a unanimous 8 round decision victory over the veteran Antonio Todd (14-8 8KOs). Official scores were 80-72 three times. Hicks controlled the fight with his good jab and boxing ability.
