IBF Has Ordered Canelo Alvarez To Fight Mandatory Challenger William Scull

LDUBB Boxing has learned that the IBF has ordered Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to fight IBF mandatory William Scull next. Deadline for negotiations is on June 8, 2024. If a deal is not reach, then a purse bid will be ordered.

 

Canelo, 33, (61-2-2 39 KO’s) boxing biggest star, defeated tough Mexican contender Jamie Munguia (43-1 34 KO’s) on May 4 by unanimous decision. Canelo is a network free agent after completing his revised one fight deal with the PBC against Munguia.

 

Scull 31, (22-0, 9 KO’s) has been IBF mandatory since July 2022 by defeating Evgeny Shvedenko by unanimous decision. Scull’s latest victory came on the undercard of Canelo vs Munguia in a non-televised bout. Scull scored a fifth round knockdown en-route to an eight round unanimous decision over Sean Hemphill (16-2 10KO’s).
