Jaron Ennis Takes on Roiman Villa on July 8th in Atlantic City

IBF Interim Welterweight Champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis (30-0 27KOs) will face the IBF #2 ranked contender Roiman Villa (26-1 24KOs) on Showtime July 8th in Atlantic City. This will serve as somewhat of a homecoming fight for Ennis with home of Philadelphia being a short drive to Atlantic City. This fight is guaranteed to be fireworks based on the fighters styles.

Ennis 25, is coming off a one sided unanimous decision victory over Karen Chukhadzhian on January 7th. Ennis received criticism for not stopping the unknown Chukhadzhian. It was a good learning experience for Ennis to be able to go the full 12 round championship distance.

Villa 30, is a durable hard punching naive of Venezuela, scored a major upset win on January 7th by defeating Rashidi Ellis by majority decision. Villa was getting outboxed early in that fight but rallied late in 12th round when he floored Ellis twice. That was enough to get the razor close victory.

Years ago Atlantic City use to be the east coast Las Vegas. Unfortunately the main casinos were taken out and the city was never able to recover. Since then casinos still have had a hard time staying in business. It’s a shame tho as someone from ny or someone like boots from Philadelphia it is basically homecoming fight but back in the 80s this was the city to be in for boxing. Had huge fights there. Besides shobox they don’t have to much there anymore
