Kenshiro Teraji Vacates The WBC Light Flyweight Title To Move Up To Flyweight.

Press Release:

Japanese Kenshiro “Amazing Boy” Teraji (23-1, 14 KO) announces that he will move up to the flyweight division, leaving the WBC light flyweight title vacant.

Teraji, 32, has had 15 title fights in his career, becoming one of the most notable WBC champions.Kenshiro won the light flyweight title by dethroning the then Mexican champion Ganigan López, in May 2017. He successfully made 8 defenses of his crown.

His only defeat ended his first reign, when he fell to his compatriot Masamichi Yabuki via technical knockout in the tenth round, returning too soon, after suffering a visible weakening from having contracted COVID 19.

Teraji avenged that loss by knocking out Masamichi in the third round in their rematch. Then, as champion once again, he made 4 more defenses, the last being on January 23, defeating Venezuelan Carlos Canizales by decision.

The WBC and its President Mauricio Sulaimán wish Kenshiro the best of success and reiterate that he will have the doors of the organization open in this new adventure in the flyweight division.
