IBF Featherweight Champion Luis Alberto Lopez (28-2 16KOs) will make his second title defense against former world title challenger Joet Gonzalez (26-3 15KOs) on Friday September 15 in Corpus Christi, Texas. This card will be presented by Top Rank Boxing and will air live on ESPN/ESPN+.
Lopez 29, is on an eleven fight winning streak since losing to Ruben Villa in 2019. Lopez defeated Josh Warrington for the IBF title in 2022 on the road in the UK. On May 27th, Lopez returned back to the UK to stop Michael Conlan in the 5th round.
Gonzalez 29, is challenging for the world title for third time against Lopez. Shakur Stevenson and Emanuel Navarrete turned back Gonzalez in world title fights. Gonzalez is 3-3 in his last six fights.
I like this one as both guys are capable of winning. Though Luis did win his last one, he didn’t look good prior to the KO. And Joet is eventually gonna win in one of these opportunities.
