Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-1 12KOs) will face WBA #1 Super Lightweight contender Ismeal Barroso (24-3-2 22KOs) for the WBA Super Lightweight Title on Saturday, May 13 live on SHOWTIME from The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas headlining a Premier Boxing Champions event.
Romero was due to fight WBA Champion Alberto Puello on this date, but Puello tested positive for banned substance and was taken off the card. Puello was named Champion in Recess on May 10th by the WBA. The Nevada State Athletic Commission will hold their monthly meeting on May 17th to rule on Puello's likely suspension. Romero-Barroso has 120 day after May 13th to make fight with WBA mandatory challenger O'Hara Davies for the England.

The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® telecast begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and features two additional super lightweight bouts with former two-division world champion Rances Barthelemy (29-2 15KOs) dueling the all-action Omar “El Relámpago” Juarez (14-1- 5KOs) in the 10-round super lightweight co-main event, plus top Super Lightweight contenders Batyr Akhmedov (9-2 8KOs) and SHOBOX® alum Kenneth Sims, Jr (19-2-1 7KOs), meet in a 12-round WBA Super Lightweight World Title Eliminator opening up the telecast.
The prelims will be stream 3 live fights on the SHOWTIME YouTube Channel 630/330p. Esteuri Suero vs Starling Castillo will face off in a 10 round lightweight battle of Dominican prospects. Michael Angeletti steps up in competition to face the rugged Michell Banquez in a 8 round bantamweight attraction. Justin Viloria will take on Pedro Pinillo in a six-round fight super featherweight bout.
