LDUBB Boxing has learned that newly crowned IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Subriel Matias (19-1 19KOs) is in talks to make his first defense against former IBF Champion Sergey Lipinets (17-2 -1 13KOs). Venue and undercard information will be announced shortly.
Matias 31, is considered one of the most dangerous boxers today with all of his wins coming by stoppage. Matias stopped Jeremias Ponce in February in an all action fight to capture the vacant title.
Lipinets 34, held the same IBF title Matias has for a brief four months before losing it to Mikey Garcia in 2018. Lipinets is coming off a 8th dominated stoppage victory over Omar Figueroa in August 2022.
Matias vs Lipinets has the makings to be a fight of the year candidate.
