Two Division World Champion Teofimo Lopez (19-1 13KOs) has cemented his claims at retirement by officially vacating his WBO Junior Welterweight title. Lopez is coming off a dominant performance last weekend over Josh Taylor in a mild upset.
With Lopez 25, retirement, there are many alternatives to fill the vacancy. Currently Arnold Barboza and Jose Ramirez are the two highest ranked contenders. That fight maybe unlikely because both fighters are under the same management.
Undisputed Lightweight Champion Devin Haney could use his WBO Super Champion privilege and move up to fight for the vacant title as well. For now it is too early to tell.
The new WBO Rankings will be out in a few days and those updates will provide fans with a clearer picture. Stay tuned for more updates on this subject.
Smh.. so I'll just say it, I think Teo is playing games. Possibly for money or attention
