Top Rank as won the rights to promote the WBC mandatory light heavyweight fight between WBC, IBF and WBO Unified Champion Artur Beterbiev (19-0 19KOs) and Callum Smith (29-1 21KO's) . Top Rank bidded $2.115m. Matchroom came up short by 15k.
Beterbiev vs Smith will likely take place in Montreal, Canada the summer of 2023. This will serve as a hometown fight for Beterbiev who currently resides in Montreal.
Beterbiev is coming off a Fight of the Year candidate vs Anthony Yarde in January. Beterbiev stopped the gamed Yarde in eight rounds. Smith will enter this fight with Beterbiev coming off nearly a year layoff due to injury which canceled his schedule March 11th fight. Smith stopped Mathieu Bauderluique August 2022 to the become WBC mandatory challenger.
